Horse Riding
At Achalone Activities we can provide riding lessons, trekking or hacking for you regardless of your previous riding experience.
Our group riding lessons are either ½ hour or 1 hour sessions* or ¾ hour for private lessons. Most riding lessons are conducted by our BHS Assistant Instructor (BHSAI) proprietor, Marion Bain, in our 40 x 20 sand arena or our purpose built jumping paddock.
*We recommend that children 8 years old and under have ½ hour lessons only. For children of this age 1 hour sessions consist of ½ hour lesson combined with a ½ hour trek session.
For a more relaxing ride why not come on one of our horse treks round our 100 acre farmland or more experienced riders can go hacking through the nearby small forest. Again trekking sessions are either ½ or 1 hour.
Before riding at Achalone you must complete our ‘Client Registration Form’ which can be downloaded by clicking the document icon opposite.
All horses are allocated to you based on your riding experience to ensure that you get the maximum enjoyment out of you time at Achalone Activities. Therefore it is essential that you provide accurate details when you complete this form. If you have a medical condition or any other condition that may put you or us in danger then please let us know.
Here at Achalone Activities we provide you with riding hats that conform to BHS regulations, that is they are of PAS015 or EN1384 standard. We do recommend that you do wear warm clothes…remember we are in the far North of Scotland! Also we highly recommend that you wear:
- Shoes with a small heel – no sports shoes
- Gloves with grip
- Comfortable trousers, preferably not jeans as these tend to cause irritation
However these are only recommendations!
Furthermore we recommend that if you are planning to ride regularly you should take out personal health insurance that covers horse riding as a regular sport
